Not gay Meme Generator
What is the Meme Generator?
It's a free online image maker that lets you add custom resizable text, images, and much more to templates. Or one that captures the feeling of coming out to your pet before telling your family.
We’ve gathered the best LGBTQ+ memes from this dedicated Instagram page.
You can share to social apps or through your phone, or share a link, or download to your device.
Criticisms
Gay rights advocates and allies have been openly opposing the use of the phrase since as early as 2005 on the Rap Music message board.
The phrase appeared on a few message board comments in December 2004. People often use the generator to customize established memes, such as those found in Imgflip's collection of Meme Templates.
The next year, The Lonely Island released a song entitled "No Homo" parodying the use of the phrase on their sophomore LP “Turtleneck and Chains.” In April 2011, Funny or Die also wrote a parody song about a rapper who does seemingly gay activities but uses “no homo” as a way to say he is not gay.
Search Interest
Search for "no homo" began registering in March 2005.

Do you have a wacky AI that can write memes for me?
Funny you ask. If you don't find the meme you want, browse all the GIF Templates or upload and save your own animated template using the GIF Maker. Over the next year, the phrase continued to appear on message boards and also started appearing in comments on rap blogs. Coined in the early to mid-2000s, the phrase was initially popularized by heteronormal men as a way to reaffirm their masculinity, though its homophobic connotation has been satirized through a series image macros depicting bromantic situations that are suggestive in nature.
Origin
No Homo was popularized in the early 1990s among youths in East Harlem, most notably rapper Cam'ron who later incorporated the phrase into his album lyrics in 2006.
Black women’s site Clutch Magazine looked at the phrase again in 2010, questioning whether use of “no homo” is more out of homophobia or trying to cover up their lifestyle choices.
Parodies
In 2010, the cartoon The Boondocks aired an episode dedicated to looking at the phrase’s usage. If you’ve ever stumbled across a post that combines a screenshot from Shrek 2, a quote from Judith Butler, and a caption like “me trying to girlboss too close to the sun,” then you’ve had a brush with it.
