Out Gay Star Trek Actor Anthony Rapp And Partner Ken Welcome Second Child

Star Trek Actor Anthony Rapp and partner Ken Ithiphol have announced the birth of their second child.

According to the couple’s post on social media, son Keony Lee Ithiphol was born on November 25.

Rapp, 52, and Ithiphol, 36, wrote, “Meet the newest addition to our family: Keony Lee Ithiphol.

Rapp’s Star Trek Discovery co-star Wilson Cruz commented, “CONGRATULATIONS! At that time, he joined a touring production of Evita that was playing in Chicago. As one of the first openly gay characters in the Star Trek franchise, Rapp’s role broke new ground in representation on screen, earning praise for its thoughtful and inclusive depiction.

Personal Life and Advocacy
Anthony Rapp is openly gay and has been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights throughout his career.

He currently plays Lt. Commander Paul Stamets on the newest incarnation of the Star Trek franchise, Star Trek: Discovery. Congratulations!! 🥰 (Pronunciation: kee-OH-knee). Rapp has said that the show creators were committed to casting an openly gay actor in the part, and that he was brought onto the series without needing to audition.

Anthony Rapp has been credited as one of the “first openly gay men on Broadway”, having come out prior to Rent, at a time when not many leading actors were out.

He credits working in the Joliet community theater scene with igniting his passion for acting. Rapp said he was motivated to speak out in order “to try to shine another light on the decades of behavior that have been allowed to continue because of many people, including myself, being silent”.

Anthony Rapp is continuing to work and stay busy, continuing his role on Star Trek: Discovery, appearing in the HBO series Equal (a four-part docuseries about major events and leaders in the LGBTQ+ community in the 20th century), and even co-hosting a Chicago Cubs podcast (he’s a diehard fan).

He later attended Interlochen Arts Camp, nurturing his love for acting and singing.

Early Career
Anthony Rapp’s professional acting career began in the 1980s with a mix of stage and screen roles.

Rapp credits his mother with making his career possible, referencing her tireless dedication to helping him get work in theater.

Rapp got involved in acting at a very young age. Rapp’s accusation has emboldened more than 30 others to come forward with claims of sexual misconduct from Spacey. His first notable appearance was in the film Adventures in Babysitting (1987), where he played Daryl Coopersmith, a spirited teenager.

Rapp has also made appearances in films like A Beautiful Mind (2001), where he played Bender, adding another dimension to his acting portfolio.

Television and Star Trek: Discovery
In recent years, Rapp gained recognition in the science fiction genre for his portrayal of Lt.

Paul Stamets in the television series Star Trek: Discovery (2017–present). At the time of the incident, Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26. His parents divorced when he was very young, after which he was raised by his mother, who worked in the nursing field. I asked @teerakeni if he would marry me and he said yes. Our son, Rai Larson Ithiphol, was brought into the world on Friday, December 2, 2022, by an incredibly generous surrogate, to whom we are eternally grateful.
