While Karl rarely discussed his sexuality, with many asking the question “Is Karl Lagerfeld gay?”, this book gives a glimpse into the relationships of the famous gay designer. I mean, I'm German.

RIP Karl. When asked how he adjusted coming off TV’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, The King's Man, All Quiet on the Western Front, and leaping into Karl Lagerfeld, he said, “The more diversities [and] differences there are in genres, in projects, in worlds that you explore, the better."

He went on to talk about what it was in Becoming Karl Lagerfeld that felt new to him:

"There are a couple of moments in the show that are among the best that I've ever done.

I mean, everything is there. You have to accept it.’ And she said, ‘Oh, this actor is wonderful. I've never done it that way before.”

MEN OF DISTINCTION: KARL LAGERFELD

It has just been announced that Karl Lagerfeld, the iconic German fashion designer, has died. And even the people from that universe will find it very funny, I'm sure."

He went on to praise his collaborators on the series, saying "And also, I mean, [creators] Sam Mendes, Armando Iannucci, and Jon Brown — these three together, to me, as a German, being invited to comedy on that level was a dream.

Everybody has such strong opinions.

  • Experience the captivating and dysfunctional love story between Lagerfeld and Jacques de Bascher.
  • Expect steamy love scenes, breathtaking scenery, and an in-depth exploration of Lagerfeld's personal journey. When there's chemistry and when it works, it's like and the writing is good. It's also thanks to this gentleman [co-star Théodore Pellerin], because I'd never told a story that is such an intense love story between two men.

Karl died in Paris on the 19th February after a period of ill health. He told us:

“I once had a glimpse at his [Theodore’s] script and then I could tell, ‘Oh, wow, he's a real teacher's pet, you know, with thousands of notes.’ Then he was so loose and accessible, and generous [in scenes], because we had to go on an emotional level.

See Harriet Shapiro, "Tout Paris Applauds the Fashionable Vision of Karl Lagerfeld", People, 11 June 1984: "I [liked women] when I was very young, but I quickly realized I didn't want any kind of human liaison. The hypnotic six-episode series stars multiple Golden Globe and BAFTA nominee Daniel Brühl(Inglourious Basterds, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) as Karl Lagerfeld — before that iconic catogan.

Jacques de Bascher is filled with joi de vivre.
