“I wanted to recreate that feeling,” she says. I can’t tell someone how to feel about dating someone who is bisexual or had a past gay experience, but it’s proper to ask in today’s times.”

One of the movie’s themes embodies the three main characters talking about wearing an “emotional condom” — protecting their feelings when it comes to men.

“I wish I had an emotional condom when I was in my 20s,” Rowland says.

“I dated this one guy and was stimulated by his conversation but he had his eyes on, like, eight other women. I just feel like I’m not in any position to judge anybody.

Singer-actress KellyRowland knows a thing or two about the complexities of relationships. So when I would be out at the clubs, we would literally be going to dinner at midnight and then going to the club at 2 and then walking home at about 6 or 7 o’clock in the morning.

“How cool that whole experience was, and how alive we felt like skipping to the hotel.”

She says she tried to capture these European experiences in ‘When Love Takes Over’.

In a Tuesday interview with The New York Post, Rowland shared her thoughts on a range of intimate topics, including bisexuality and open marriages. Saturday on Lifetime

Kelly Rowland says she is happy to create a ‘safe space’ in  clubs with the LGBTQ+ fave and anthem “When Love Takes Over.”

In an interview with The Messenger, she discussed the way she and David Guetta’s 2009 hit had such an impact on the LGBTQ+ community.

“But it happens with guys, too, not just women.

“But it happens with guys too, not just women. “Do not get duped and manipulated by these dudes who don’t know who the hell they are and have insecurities and then you have to deal with a plate of all of their sh-t.

“Let them know they’re dealing with greatness — that they’re dealing with a queen.”

Rowland was asked if there was a moment when she realised the song had become such an LGBTQ+ fave.

“No, I never looked at it like that.

“I don’t think I necessarily thought about it like that.

“I just felt like if we created this space of love and feeling seen and feeling confident in your space and your sexuality, then thank God for us and thank God that we were able to create such a space.”

European Dinner at Midnight

Inspired by her experiences in Europe, Rowland says “I was searching for my own space.

“Growing up, I remember being in Europe by myself and making friends and starting this new kind of space over there.

“There are some women who are not finding the real truth about their partner’s sexuality until they go through their man’s phones,” says Rowland. “Meanwhile I’m asking [him] all these questions and he’s not telling me the answers to what I want to hear.

“I was already connected to him emotionally, so that was a big mistake.”

And does she believe that it’s possible to find love by the 10th date?

“I’ve met people who have been in marriages for 43 and 20 years and they were basically engaged on the second or third date,” she says.

“The essence of it and the feeling of it, It’s like so fun.”

Kelly Rowland sounds off on celibacy, bisexuality and open marriage

Kelly Rowland says she has a lot in common with Margot Scotts, her character in the new Lifetime movie “Love By the 10th Date.”

Margot, a reporter, has chosen a life of celibacy — feelings that are challenged when she ends up dating one of her interview subjects, controversial reggae musician Big Stunna (played by musician/actor Black Shakespeare).

“I can truly relate to my character because I remember having my own celibate moment, where I was like, ‘I am not playing games anymore,’” says the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter/actress, 35.

“So it really depends on the individuals and how ready someone is for a real relationship.

“Michelle and Barack [Obama] show you exactly how it should be,” she says. “There are some women who are not finding the real truth about their partner’s sexuality until they go through their man’s phones,” she said. So you have to make sure that you’re holding some of those emotions back so you’re not putting yourself in a real f—ed-up situation.”

Rowland, who’s been happily married for the past three years to her manager, Tim Witherspoon, says she’s not one to judge anyone who’s in an open marriage — including the much-publicized open marriage of comedienne Mo’Nique.

“None of my girlfriends that I know of have open relationships,” she says.

But I would go back and tell my single self not to talk to this one guy because I thought he was so awesome,” she says. “I got to the point where I was like, ‘God, I want a husband!’ ”

The two-hour movie, written and directed by Nzingha Stewart, follows Margot and her friends Gabby (Megan Goode), Billie (Keri Hilson) and Nell (Kellee Stewart) — who all work at an upscale digital magazine in LA — as they look for love in different ways (bisexuality, open marriage).
